The next one is Love Affair: A Memoir of Jackson Pollock by Ruth Kligman. This book upset me terribly. I knew that he died in a car accident at the age of 44, and that he was driving drunk. What I did not know was the circumstances surrounding his death. The author was his lover and she reveals a close look into the last months of his life and their affair. After reading this, all I can feel is rage at a man so careless and selfish as to put at risk the lives of other people while he chased his own private demons. Moral: Beware of artists that spatter paint and cry a lot, and never get in the car with them!
