I did the 40 page sprint to the end of the book this morning. He writes with an ease and eloquence that pulls you out of yourself and into his creation. I loved the rhythm of his writing. There was only once or twice that I fell out of his cadence (my fault not his) and had to reread a sentence to get it right. When bonne began writing about how he affected her, I thought well I'll have to see this to believe it. But she's very right .... he pulls everything out of you as he creates not only memorable characters but memorable thoughts; not only memorable plots but memorable themes .... He has been granted probationary admission to my pantheon of writers. I'll have to read a bit more of him to make it permanent. The problem is that it will take awhile before I can face him again.
