Darkness, Take My Hand

Dennis Lehane

Purchase this title at B&N

I started out trying to write a proper review of this book, but it sounded like rubbish to me. Anyway, most of you already know that Lehane is a pretty good mystery writer due to a number of people singing his praises in the Barn. Let me add to the growing chorus. Lehane rocks! :-) I've only ever read one book by him, Sacred, and was mightily impressed. It's a wonder it took me so long to pick up the next. This one precedes Sacred, and was much more chilling. It starts off with a prologue that fills you with foreboding. And then goes on to turn up the pressure bit by bit. The chilling thing about this book is that the story is so believable and I found myself shuddering with horror as the story unfolded. And I still couldn't stop reading.

As for the story, well, you'll have to read it and find out.
