I finished Odd Thomas this morning and put it down thinking this was one of the best from Koontz I'd read in a long while. No talking dogs, no government secrets and world takeovers, no genetic splicing for the perfect killing machine. This is, nothing more, nothing less, just a good old ghost story with a few evil human beings thrown in. Odd Thomas is a well created character, he narrates the story and does a good enough job to keep you turning the pages. The plot is time worn, good vs evil, but that plot works in the hands of a good author and Koontz makes it work here. If you've avoided Koontz for awhile because you found he kept writing the same story, just changing the characters who moved it along, I recommend you pick this one up. If for no other reason than to meet Odd Thomas, he comes by his name honestly.
