The Green Mile

Stephen King

Purchase this title at B&N

I am convinced that King writes superior "prison" novels. This certainly had the same ring and feel of Rita Hayworth and the Shawshenk Redemption. The frank, brutal, harsh reality of prison life -- and of course, what I know of it comes from movies and a few visits to a black-sheep relative years ago -- comes across so strongly. I also thought King pulled off the serialization well. I read it like a serial although I had the complete in one novel. I loved it and would definitely recommend it.
