My Life in the 'ToonsJoe Barbera |

I began the autobiography "My Life in the 'toons" by Joe Barberra (Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, many others). I'm not certain what I was expecting, but this book didn't quite do it for me. Although there were a lot of very interesting events woven into the work, and the usual (but mostly held in check) puffery, there seemed to be an underlying bitterness through some significant portions of the work. At least, that was my perception. OTOH, it was a real peek inside what was going on as the entertainment industry changed from one of primarily movies to primarily television, and the wrenching change that had on Southern California. There was some humor in this book (and some of it quite hilarious, though not quite laughing out loud hilarious like Moore), but not as much as you might expect from someone whose work we probably all remember very fondly.
