Fourth in the series of Evanovich's wildly popular comic mysteries featuring Stephanie Plum. In this outing Stephanie, the tough, trash talking bounty hunter is chasing down Maxine Nowicki. Nowicki stole her ex-boyfriend's car and skipped out on her court date. Should be an easy takedown. When Stephanie's apartment and car get blown up during the chase, she moves in with sexy Joe Morelli; the cop she's had a crush on since they were kids; which sends a ripple of gossip through their New Jersey neighborhood. Fighting off rumors, Stephanie has to pull it together to get her woman. A colorful cast of characters includes old favorites like her pistol packing Grandma Mazur; co-worker Lula "a two-hundred pound black woman with blond baloney curls all dressed up like Cher on a bad day"; and a few new additions, seven foot tall, cross dressing, rock star Sally; and rival newbie bounty hunter Joyce better known for playing "hide the salami" with Stephanie's husband, right before he became her ex. Laugh out loud funny, with improbable if not impossible situations, these books aren't about who-dunnit, they're a light hearted brain candy of a read.
