The Books of Magic: Transformations

John Ney Rieber

Purchase this title at B&N

I've read the first three books of this series and wondered what all the fuss was about, but people have kept telling me how great the series is, so I've kept going. Here, in book four, I start to see what they're talking about.

Tim is getting better at magic, but he's consumed with female troubles-- not only the regular women in his life, but now he's got an odd body artist thrown into the mix to make things a bit more complicated.

There's not an extraneous story arc, here, really, it's all about Tim and the women in his life, and perhaps that's what gets the quality revved up here in a way it wasn't in books two and three. Whatever the reason, this one's a great deal more readable, and enjoyable, than the two the precede it.
