The Family Orchard

Nomi Eve

Purchase this title at B&N

I only got through one this month. It was going along fine but then I got bogged down which led to avoiding it and dragging it out:

The Family Orchard by Nomi Eve. It began falling apart for me about 2/3rds through. To that point, I really liked it despite it being postmodern and on the weird side :). It's the story of a Jewish family back through the generations. Very well written and interestingly organized.

What I liked was it was not focused upon the Holocaust but upon life in Palestine (and elsewhere). The Holocaust appears as the family moves through time but you experience it through the eyes of Jewish people living in Palestine.

Then I hit a few chapters on golems via one of the characters. Well, these and dwarves never go down well with me in books. Up to the golem fascination, the book was close to a 5. It came out a 4.3.

I would read more by her.
