Little Miss Spider

David Kirk

Purchase this title at B&N

The artwork in this book is simply stunning. One of a number of kids' books recommended by Maureen Corrigan (Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading) for adoptive families, and right on the mark.

The seventh book in Kirk's Miss Spider series takes us back to Spider's infanthood, spent wandering around and looking for her mother, whom she finds to be not at all what she expected. Fun and sometimes clever rhyming, but the real fascination here is with the pictures. They have a quality of low-key oddness that makes them fascinating. Check it out.
