A Book of Bees

Sue Hubbell

One of my current books is A Book of Bees, by Sue Hubbell. This is a non-fiction book about beekeeping, bees and the ways of bees. The author clearly loves her subject matter and writes in a clear and informative style. The tone in some places is meditative in the simple way that a piece of Shaker furniture is meditative. The lines are clean but carry an import that extends beyond the subject matter. I think Bonnie would love this book. Some of Hubbell's writing reminds me of Bonnie's when she is writing about the pastures near her home.
