The second Spiderwick book continues where the first left off. The action is still good, but the book dips a tad in quality; the events the lead to the action seem as if they're in there more as filler than anything else, written as quickly as possible to get them out of the way before the action begins. There didn't seem to be any thought to why they'd be there; no expansion of character, no revelation of new information, not even any witty dialogue. Just a couple of quick and unnecessary scenes before things get interesting. Once the plot gets rolling, however, things do take off, and the kids are off on adventure number two, which involves goblins, a troll, and the ability to see into the realm of faerie. (We'll see how long that lasts, shall we?) Another book that's able to be read in one long gulp, easy and fun. If you like the first one, you'll like this one.
