The Flight of the Falcon

Daphne Du Maurier

Well, count Daphne Du Maurier as one of my favourite authors now. The Falcon was just as good as Rebecca. A good mystery, interesting characters, and plot twists you cannot see coming until they slap you. This had the same sinister atmosphere snaking through it, though it was more obvious than Rebecca. I thought the dislike between the two groups of university students (the commerce/economics versus the arts) to be a tad over the top, but it was necessary for the plotline. Armino was a likable main character, and his dilemma was easy to imagine anyone could get into, and then have difficulty finding the right way out. Murder, after all, is a tough rap to beat. :-)
