It was a good story, full of twists and turns, and everytime I put it down I had something new to think about. Much like my new sig line, I will never think about gender roles the same! I liked Dana, and I could understand his desire to be a woman. I had some problems with Allison, as she seemed a push-over at times. Carly, the daughter, was very level-headed, and even Will grew on me. So if nothing else, it was nice to read a book with characters I liked! The subject matter was a tad dicey, but I think Bohjalian handled it well - never judgemental, just telling the story. In fact, I had to remind myself that this was a fictional story. Nicely done, all around, I thought.
