A Darker Place

Laurie R. King

Purchase this title at B&N

A Darker Place should be subtitled the book that never ends. I was moving along this year reading at record speeds with books that I didn't want to put down. Then I met my match. It's not that A Darker Place is a bad book. It just reads very slowly. I guess it was the style of writing. Every time I would get on a roll and get interested, the story would slow down again and I would itch to move on to other things. The story was a compelling look at a college professors infiltration of a religious group, but pales in comparison to the very similar Thief of Souls by Darian North.
