Rev - I think you would like this one. A re-telling of the tale of Faust, who in this case asks for knowledge and winds up accelerating the advance of civilization by decades if not centuries. Somewhat disorienting because of the pace of the change in the book. The devil in this case takes a number of forms, usually whispering in Faust's ear to help him along. A good read.
