As I noted earlier, this work shows what can go awry with fitting "facts" to a preconceived notion. Nevertheless, this was an interesting read, particularly to see just how far we have come in 100 years on studies of the dispersal of peoples and languages, and how even today getting 'surprised' happens, and happens fairly frequently. For example, a recent Mayan ruin was found a few hundred yards from a site that has been excavated for nearly 75 years. The new site is 300 years older and shows signs of far more trade than was previously considered reasonable.
