Some Things That Stay

Sarah Willis

Some Things That Stay is the first novel of Sarah Willis, but I doubt it will be her last. The story is about Tamara, a 15 year old girl whose family moves every year, as her artist father pursues new landscapes to paint. This particular spring, they end up in a place where both Tamara and her mother both want to stay; and Tamara learns some important lessons about growing up. It's a story that made me laugh out loud, and shed a few tears. I immediately passed it on to my mother, who also read it quickly - for such a simple story, it's surprising difficult to put down.
