I just today finished Barbara Ehrenreich's new book: Nickel and Dimed: On (not) getting by in America. A good read about what it's like to try and get by on mimimum wage these days. Nothing terribly shocking in there--at least for me since I'm from solid blue collar stock, but depressing and anger inducing. Will make you never hire a cleaning firm (ie Merry Maids) or shop at Wal-marts (although I'm sure Target, Kmart, etc aren't much different). The waitressing section held no surprises for me since I've been there, done that. Recommended to off set the tails of dot commers and their perceived problems.
