Patricia Cornwell tries to become Carl Hiaasen in her latest book featuring Judy Hammer and Andy Brazil. This was already a weak series to begin with and Isle of Dogs doesn't do a thing to save it. I'm really not sure what the plot was supposed to be. Brazil's character starts a website called Trooper Truth that apparently is wide read and controversial despite the fact that it is boring, pointless, etc. There is a serial killer and a bunch of upset people on Tangier Island. Cornwell seems to think that humor can be derived from giving people funny names that fit their character(Dr. Faux for the dentist who falsifies records), a governor with bowel trouble and poking fun at the people of Tangier Island. None of it works and the Tangier Island part comes off as a "sophisticated author" looking down on common folk. Don't waste your time with this one.
