This is my first Grafton novel. Kinsey Milhone, excop, now private investigator is on the case of a missing sister last seen on her way to her winter home in Florida. Many times I thought I'd solved the case but was kept in suspense until the author chose to reveal the guilty party. I liked this female detective. Milhone was smart, thoughtful and made interesting observations about people and their habits. Unlike many female protagonists in contemporary crime fiction, Milhone didn't draw too much attention to being an female in a traditionally male field. The author avoided the pitfall of making Milhone your typical shrill female overachiever. This made her more credible and less annoying to me.
