If you look at the author's photo on the dustjacket, you might think, "this young man isn't old enough to shave, let alone to be writing novels" but you'd be wrong. Rice's second foray into writing is intelligent and captivating. A gothic thriller, set at a fictional Northern university, using a socially diverse cast of characters makes for a very entertaining read. It's not perfect, there are times where I could imagine the characters on the Jerry Springer show, but it kept me interested and wanting to know what was going to happen next, which it really what matters.
