I saw this in a bookshop in New York. I sat on the floor of the shop on an early Saturday morning, read the first story and decided right, I couldn't leave the shop without it. Most of the stories deal with the experiences of immigrants from the Indian subcontinent. How they adjust to life in America, what they miss from their lives before, what happens a few generations down the line. I liked learning about the slightly different cultures and could sort of relate in a way. However, most of the stories were on the wistful, sad, melancholy side and I wish there had been a few more upbeat stories. But on the whole, I enjoyed the collection and many times was pulled right into the story.
