Death of a Doxy

Rex Stout

Purchase this title at B&N

I just finished "Death of a Doxy" by Rex Stout and I enjoyed it. That's surprising given that it would fit in the cozy mystery sub genre, which is not something I normally pursue. However, Stout has a good pen for dialogue, characterization, and the mystery is enough to keep you guessing for awhile. He's not as sharp or punchy as Parker, and the character of Archie is much softer and aligned with the world than Spenser and his infamous kick, Hawk. But that's not to stop me from picking up another one in the series. They're good afternoon reads, quick, light, easy on the mind. Just the kind of book you need for those "between" times in your reading moods.
