I've picked this one up after some recommendation by you barners and I must say I am not disappointed. This is a well written "fantasy" novel, smart, sensitive and intelligent. Characters well described and with lots of depth and you can feel for them. In my opinion it wasn't so much of a fantasy novel more a medieval minstrel story about princes and princesses and far away kingdoms with lots of intrigues murder and the obligatory bastard, in this case the main character. Nevertheless, very entertaining, not to big and good enough for me to go look for part 2. I could describe the story but lots of names have been translated as well so things would be confusing. But I was pleasantly surprised by the way Hobb has written this clever book.
