The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Albom strains too hard to make his story uplifting. This is a guy who can really write -- he did well with Tuesdays with Morrie and his sports columns -- but here he was so determined to be poetic that his prose clanks like a bad free throw.

The premise of the book is fine, and there are occasional good moments, but I found myself groaning and grimacing for most of the book. Surely he could have done better than this.
